About the Author
Glenn Young, CSP, Editor, is the author of Background Math for Safety Certification Examinations. The author is a consultant who specializes in quantitative and semi-quantitative risk analysis, including layers of protection analysis (LOPA) and event-tree analysis, in addition to system safety instrumentation services. Wayne M. LaCombe, MSPH, CSP, is an industrial hygiene professional at a large petro-chemical facility in Louisiana where he is responsible for industrial hygiene programs. Previously, he worked for OSHA, Region VI, as a safety and health compliance officer. Karen D. Morton, P.E., is currently manager of the Control Systems and Electrical Engineering Department at Spectrum Engineering, Inc. She is a licensed professional control systems engineer in the state of Louisiana. Andrew Rodgers, Ph.D., CIH, is Adjunct Professor in the Nunez Community College Department of Science where he teaches Chemistry and Physics. Dr. Rodgers worked for ten years in specialty chemicals production as an Environmental Manager and Safety Health and Environmental Engineer. Dr. Rodgers also performs research at the University of New Orleans in the development and FDA licensing for the manufacture of anti-cancer drugs for trials in humans to study safety and effectivness. Marta Vasquez, Ph.D., P.E., is a design engineer for the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development. Previously, she worked for the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality as an Environmental Chemical Specialist. She has also worked at various analytical laboratories as a QA/QC officer and senior analytical chemist. She is the author of a number of research articles published in scientific journals in addition to books of a scientific nature. John Thomas Watkins, M.B.A., B.S., is lead safety engineer and Assistant Area Director, Baton Rouge Area Office of OSHA, performing and supervising in-depth fatality investigations and inspections involving the construction, general and maritime industries. He has also worked as a civil engineer, hydraulic engineer and supervisory hydraulic engineer for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Ronald H. Williams, M.S., CSP, CIH, is a principal for EnviroSafe Resources, LLC, and provides occupational health, safety and environmental consulting services to a variety of commercial and industrial clients. Robert R. Zinn, B.S., CET, has worked since 1981 providing hardware, software and network support for the Louisiana State University Chemistry Department. He has also worked as an electronics technician and a senior systems engineer in the Baton Rouge-New Orleans-Lake Charles areas.
